Rasteau - The Village

La Treille is a substantial Provencal Farmhouse complex built in the early 18th century. It is situated in the ancient wine village of Rasteau in the Vaucluse department. The Vaucluse is part of the old principality of Provence.

Rasteau is one of a small number of perched villages built and fortified around the 8th century. Less than ten miles away are the villages of Gigondas and Vacqueyras, both "Cru Reputee" - villages with outstanding reputations for fine wine just like Chateauneuf du Pape which is less than twenty-five minutes away by car.

Rasteau is ideally situated for those interested in tasting fine wines but is also extremely well placed for hill-walking, climbing, cycling and for much of the year sunbathing.

Climate

In Summer the average temperature is described as "very warm". An average day temperature is 24.1 degrees, whilst it regularly reaches 30 degrees at midday. The sun in Provence has a clarity and luminosity all of its own.
